Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

TerryH, it's indeed strange. She looks like she's in pain ... Doesn't look like crazy chick disease either. I just remembered I could've used warm water bottles instead of the lamp. It might not be the root of the problem, but this chick doesn't look like it can get warmth w the others under MHP right now and I'm concerned it might get chilled through the night. Have you posted on the emergencies thread? Hope she gets better

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and for the concern. She's still the same. I wrapped her in a towel and held her for an hour and a half when I got home. I can get her to drink a little nutridrench but not too much. She doesn't seem to be in pain and slept in my hand for quite a while. She never did poop. Her vent is perfectly clean. Still nothing visually wrong with her. I got a video of what she does when I put her down. It scares me. Any suggestions would be awesome.
Can she lift her head?
It looks it might be neurological to me...somethings maybe not wired quite right in her little brain?

Was her crop empty this morning?
She's cheeping right, so probably nothing stuck in her mouth/throat?

Just some ideas

Aart, just read your post. Sorry about your chick

There was food in her crop. She is chirping. I put some crumble in a dish and set her in it. She ate like crazy. Seemed normal for a few minutes then did the weird deal again. I'm holding her now and she's chirping but not in a distressful tone. I was encouraged that she ate. The other babies are going to bed soon. I'm clueless what to do with her.

Her crop was full this morning?
It should be empty in the morning, so maybe her digestive system is backed up.

So she can control her head?
Cause it didn't look like it in the video.
Still looks neurological to me, they can have some weird involuntary movements.

I'd post the video and details in the emergencies forum.

Sorry aart. I'm not sure about first thing this morning. There was food in her crop at noon. She does have control of her head. She literally stood and ate like nothing was wrong just a little while ago and then freaked out again.

Is she drinking too?
Will she settle down with the others....or just oblivious to the group?

She drank some sugar water and some nutridrench that we gave her with a syringe. Not a lot but some. She just pooped on me. First time in my entire 54 years that I was ecstatic to have something poop on me. Perfectly normal looking poop. Some of them were in the MHP so I just put her I there with them. Seems like they are al just going to go to bed. I did post in the emergency thread. Typing with one hand while I held her with the other. Sheesh...how did I get so incredibly attached to a $3 chicken?

I agree with aart about the neuro signs. Weird vitamin deficiency is still high on my list. If she were flipping her head up, I'd say it was a thiamine deficiency. Lickily, the Nutri-drench is a lovely vitamin supplement, so if it is that then you're already treating it.

Thanks. Vitamin deficiency is the suggestion from the emergency thread also. I'll keep trying to get as much NutriDrench in her as possible. Trying to get them to go to bed now. Some were under the MHP but now everyone but her is piled up in a corner with her alone in the MHP. I'm trying to get them all back under the MHP. They are totally stressing me out.
