Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Next batch isn't mine, just some I'll be brooding until they are coop ready.
Ahh...I did that last month.
Another batch of 21 in the bator for me(OE crosses BCm x CCL, and backcrosses and marans)....
..and a few CCL pullet chicks will come at about the same time.
Broody and chicks are integrated, but temp wall will go back up in a couple few weeks.

Started first batch of chicks 3 years ago the "standard way." Heat lamps and steadily growing broader until it took over the spare room. Last year had 2 batches a month apart in the basement. What a mess, and then the basement flooded. Nightmare! Swore I wasn't going through that again. And something I always did was cover their cage at night because all that light didn't seem natural

I’m probably the only person on the planet who has read each and every post.
I've read them all, along with a few others who followed since it started...
...but we read it as it grew, much different endeavor than coming along new and reading it all. 8-0

What @aart said. It was a lot easier to read them all as they were posted. Can't imagine starting from page one and going all the way through now.

MHP pad is still in the enclosed nest box to keep eggs from freezing. It will be back into service for its designed purpose on April 24 or 25. How long depends on if I get a broody soon. Of course normally I do NOT want a broody but with babies coming ...

Well, I stand most happily corrected!! I figured even the regulars would have taken spells where they didn't check in for a few days (or even weeks like I've had to do a couple of times) and would have just picked up from the latest posts. Sometimes I'd be off so long that catching up took a long, loooong time, so yep, I can imagine how intimidating it would be to start at the beginning and try to read all the way through.

When people on the other forum ask me about MHP and I direct them here, I usually tell them that almost everything they really need to know about the very basics is in the first post. Between the photos, and the setup, then the link to @Beekissed's alternate setup and instructions for that, that about covers it. But most of the time they find themselves kinda picking through and reading sections here and sections there. They are usually struck by the attitude here and how helpful everyone is, with the bonus of the photos shared. Kinda nice!

@NotAFarm, How's Kyle doing?
