mama heating pad question

I found, after several design iterations, that the pad is best under the rack.
If on top, make sure the rack has small holes or they can push their heads up thru the rack and get stuck.
Also gave up on wrapping the pad in anything, can just create gaps where they can crawl in and get stuck.
I put a piece if plastic between rack and the piece of cardboard on top to keep pad clean. Cardboard can be scraped off or changed out.

Here's mine:

How many chicks are you getting?
My heating pad was set on top of the cooling rack, I'm not sure why people are saying it HAS to be under the rack. Seems to be making it more complicated than it needs to be that way. The wires will heat up to the temp of the pad either way.
I am getting 10 chicks. only 10 more days I can't wait!!!!!!!!! finally almost down to single digits. hahaaa.

I have mine under and done up with lots of bungy cords. I was going to put a towel over the top and wrap that in the cling wrap and just lay it on the top of it. My racks have big holes since that is all my store had. well that had 1 with smaller holes but it was too short so I needed 2.
