So we have a mama hen and her chicks born in the coop no other hens in that coop. I’m worried about the chicks falling out because it’s so high off the ground. We have cardboard up to block them from falling out but wonder if mama will make sure they don’t
Two are about 5 days old and one is a day old.
Any help would be appreciated

You can always make mama a nest on the floor so they won’t fall. I do this with a box (cut one side off so it’s open, and put some hey in it. I normally do this after I notice the hen is broody. She will be taking them out of that nest soon.

She is already showing them how to eat and drink. We have a feeder and waterer in the coop for them as well as her food and water outside the coop. I’m just afraid they will fall to the ground outside the coop it’s about 3 feet off the ground if they fall of the side of the ramp or go tumbling down it.

This is the coop well when it was new
