Hm I totally didn't realize you needed to do that? Just for sanitation? The cardboard box was mama and the babies is in the bathroom with our 15 5-week-old pullets in a big feeding trough.

Update: found mama with 3 live chicks this morning! still totally not out of the woods yet but more hopeful than last night.
Mama seems to be getting restless though, kinda seems like she wants a break but maybe I'm projecting I wonder if I should get them a bigger box? It has seemed convenient that she and the babies don't need to go far too eat and drink so far.
