Hello, I am new here, have been lurking for some time though.
I have 15 red sex link hens, one went broody a few weeks ago. I put 4 fertile eggs under her, and she has been diligently sitting on them for 15 days now. This morning, when i went out to the coop, she was being assaulted by the other girls!!! I immediately removed her and her nest, and put her in the basement in a large dog crate. She has not gone back to sitting on her eggs, it has been about 3 hours.
Should i just let go, and see what she does? Or should i take them and throw together a makeshift bator?? Thanks!!

I'm new to the hatching, but it is my understanding that they only leave the nest for about 1 hour a day.

They can not fall below a certain temp or they will die. I don't know if it is too late now or not after 3 hours.

You'll have to hurry to make a bator.

Maybe someone will come along and help you out a little better than I can.

I personally would:
1) make an incy asap
2) I would take 3 of the eggs and put them in the incy
3) leave 1 with hen to see if she goes back

then you are spreading the risk. she might just be unsettle by the other hen's attacking her. When my broody was off the next for longer than i wanted I put her back in (she is in a brooder box) and shut the door for a few hours and she was fine....back to being a good mum.

Good luck and update us when you can

Thank you, I took 3 of the eggs away. I put them in a plastic bucket on some hay, wet cloths near them and a heat lamp over them. the temp is 99 degrees. does that sound right?? mama has not gone back to sitting on the last egg:(

I think you're doing the right thing.
