I realized this after I bought them, I plan to put them on a diet and they'll be free ranging quite a bit, I was going to grow and cull any excess cockerels anyways.
I plan to keep them until I know that their quality of life is diminishing.
Then they'll nourish my family.
So sad :/
I love barred rock chickens, I'd love to order some after these guys have made it to the freezer.
I'll love em till theyre food though.

Not sad really, would rather eat a chicken that had a happy life rather than cage/factory raised. Barred Rocks are beautiful!

Very true!
I do find it sad, I care for and love on/comfort rats before I feed them to my snakes, I just feel for animals.
But dressing/cooking a happy chicken I raised will be satisfying.
