So I went up to F&F to see what they got in their 'surprise' package. I was hopin for a few geese, but sadly none were there. They did have more Pekin, but I resisted the urge to take them home.

However, I did end up coming home with quite a package! Of, guess what? MORE CHICKENS! lol

I dont plan to keep them all, though. They are of some breeds that interested me and the price was DEFFINATELY right so I snagged up a bundle. I'll watch them grow and pick my faves I suppose, and I'll have to part with extra roos, or redo the social structure of my current group.

So....(and sorry no pics yet, but they're coming soon!) I came home with these breeds: German Spitzhauben, Egyptian Fayoumis, Phoenix, Lakenvelder, Red Jungle Fowl, Red Shoulder Yokohama, Silver Yokohama, and then I grabbed some Cochins and Polish too. I have Bearded White Crested Black Polish, Buff Laced Polish, Silver Laced Polish, Golden Laced Polish, and Blue Polish. And then I got: Partridge, Blue, Buff, Black, and Splash Cochins. I got one or two of each of these so I brought home a total of 25 chicks! Oh, and they had 2 Blue Slate turkeys so I got them too and thought I'd give them a try. Plus, the gal at F&F kinda threw them in so..... lol I'm a happy camper now! However, I dont know that DH will be so thrilled upon his return from work! lol

Oh, and if anyone wants any of these breeds and they live within driving distance of me, let me know beacause these WILL go fast! I can run out and grab more if I know someones coming to get them. They are selling them ALL at $1.50/each. Oh, and the had some banites too....I may go back out there anyway....lol

Geeeeezzzzzzz, the feed stores around me are so boring compared to that! The norm is Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks, Sexlinks and sometimes White Rocks. That is about as exciting as it gets!

Same here. The most exciting thing when they were selling the chicks were the Naked Neck chicks. I'm surprised that the stores are still selling. Ours only sells for about a month and then that's it. Way to go 4H Mom!

I missed my exit the other day coming off the freeway and had to take the next one which CONVENIENTLY

meant I had to go by the feed store. I noticed a sign saying they had chicks so I stopped in. I was surprised that they would have chicks this late. What they had was guineas this week. At the end of the week they will have RIRs but I don't think they get very adventurous when they order either. I asked them how long they planned to have chicks and they said about until the end of September...couldn't believe it.

Ooh you are going to be in trouble when hubby gets home! LOL! Maybe he is making suggestions to the store clerk of what he wants and those are the freebies! LOL again! Yeah more babies! Waiting on the pics!

Where are you PUTTING them all? (I say from my tiny, just shy of a half-acre in suburbia)

I have to stay out of the feed store. I'd bring them ALL home. They're carrying chickens that look to be about 4-6 weeks old from what I can tell (as a newbie). They're just a bit bigger and more feathered than my 2wo's! I wanted all of them!
