we all got our chicks as day olds in the beginnng of may/late april...we are racing to the first egg.

Congrats aran. I knew mine came from my easter egger because it was a light green. So i checked her vent and it was about twice the size as my other barred rock who is the same age. Lady has been giving us eggs daily now, small but tasty. We are still waiting on the barred rock. They will be 20 weeks this weds.

Did you eat your first tiny treasure? My chicks were hatched/born on April 11th and I received them in April 12th. Mine are 20 weeks old. I was looking at the calendar wrong and kept thinking they were 19wks old this week. I got my first egg on Fri, but mine are maybe a few weeks older than yours.

Congratulations! Isn't it fun?? I have two Ameraucanas, two Barred Rocks and one Speckled Sussex in my youngest group who turned 18 weeks old Friday and whose combs are getting red now. I also have one Buff Brahma who is 28 weeks old and has yet to lay her first egg, bad girl!

I'm excited with all of you! I'm way behind in the age catagory, mine will be 5 weeks old on Wed. They just spent night 3 outside. I better get those nesting boxes built so that we are ready in what....15 more weeks....DANG.
