Man up the street, sort of threatening me....what should I do?

See that's the problem with the world people are so up tight about stuff I have a neighbor that has a dog kennel and she is nice as pie! Sure I can hear her dogs everyday but I don't complain cause I know I make noise!! The other neighbor rides his 4 wheeler all the time on his track but don't care! People in this world like to complain just so they can hear themselves! That's just my 2cents!

We keep our birds locked up until 7:30 or 8 a.m. I can hear our roos - very faintly- throught the walls of the coop, earlier than that. Other than that suggestion, I can only pray & hope that your looney neighbor stays away. I do think you should take precautions.

I had a neighbor 1/2 a mile away say something to the wife one day about our roosters even though he has one living 100ft from his house. Wife just said "just wait till we get the long crowers, go home and Google them!" Haven't heard anything more from him.

ok-- considering how long this thread has become, I MAY have missed it... BUT:
Have you checked what (if any) noise/nuisance laws exist for your township?

AND-- you said you are not the only one with Roosters--right??
Then now is the time to get together with the other rooster owners and see if he's been bothering them... and figure out AS A COMMUNITY what steps to take.

I see how many of the "guys" on here say he was not threatening you "per-se"---
it is easy for a GUY to say that, they do not understand how threatening 2 men on your front porch can be if you are a woman alone, let alone when they are being loud, rude and seem hostile!

Again--your best bet is to call the authorities and ASK what the codes are, explain the on-going hostility if there are no underlying noise ordinances and ask THEM what you should do---

I saw some great "No trespassing signs"... REALLY--- get at least a couple and post them all over-especially near the coop!

"No Trespassing"
"Trespassers will be shot, processed and eaten"
"Never-mind the Dog-- Beware the owner"
"Trespassers will be violated...er-um -Violators will be prosecuted"
and my fave--
a "Deer season Open" sign with the "Deer" crossed out in red and "Trespasser" written above it!

Sometimes a bit of humor helps!

If you are allowed to have roosters and you want to keep them, then do. None of your neighbors will ask you if they can have a motorcycle.

I only got thru half of this thread and became disgusted at the posters questioning you about being threatened and defending a guy that comes to your door with a bag in hand for your rooster.

It is ridiculous for you people to say the things you say about the OP! It's getting to the point here where people don't want to post for advice because you get people coming out of the woodwork calling you a bad person and questioning you and your incident.

What do you people expect? Should she sit down and talk to her roo and explain to him that he needs to refrain from crowing until a decent hour? As if that would work.
If this man doesn't live right on top of the coop, I guarantee that the crowing is NOT waking him up at 5 am!
I have a neighbor that lives about 200 feet from my house and she doesn't hear my roo crowing at 5 am, which he does every morning.

Bottom line, she is allowed roos where she lives.
This man comes to her door with another man with a bag in hand for her roo.
To me that is a threat and would be treated as such!

If the same situation happened to me I would have given the man an earfull of not so choice words and told him if he set foot on my property again, he would be carried off, with his stupid bag!!

Keep a record of what happened that day, make a report, and if your birds suddenly start to die off for no apparent reason, have a necropsy done and file charges on the SOB!

Ignore the foolsih posters who are giving you a hard time and bashing you!
