Well here is another update: another noise investigation was held and found my roo was crowing as yearly as 5am. Yes I expected that for lots of reasons. My rooster knew when my husband was going out the door for work and would crow we also ended up with light coming into the coop (even tho we tried to reduce it and the pieces were broken off how I don't know when not 100% sure).
Lately the neighbours directly behind us have had their bright upstairs light on as well as the neighbours in the back left of my house who I swear have had their lights on all night for the last 4 weeks also another neighbour had a flood light to the back right of use sec house down and it's pointed towards my house that flaming thing when triggered stays on for at least 5 mins at a time the thing goes of from 12am til 5:30am (I have pictures to back it up) the light comes into my back bedroom a bit but it really comes into my bathroom downstairs and it reflects off my bathroom mirror though my obscure glass it also hits the fence between me and my neighbour to the left side of me it also hits the back of our coop and needless to say this would set my rooster off.
Was told this past Tuesday that they wanted to come out and inspect as the lady claimed we had rats in our yard again and they were living in it which is bs we have no rats living in our yard and have found no evidence that they are coming into it! We are also 6 homes down from a fish and chip shop so I highly doubt it's just my chickens drawing them.
They are coming tomorrow they want to know what else I will be doing with my rooster and how I plan to fix his crowing I did make plans to lower the roof in my smaller coop as I did not plan on hatching chicks this year to help reduce the noise but the last few days I have been finding glass in my yard and my rooster has been acting agressive towards me and my husband again. To the point where Thursday I went out as the auto coop door failed to open so I had to go out and fix it and this bugger ran right at me while my back was turned! grabed a rake and he hit the handle thankfully nither of use were hurt but still that is not something he has done while my back was turned and he has no other males to deal with either. I have found him with cuts on his comb and his relectance to come near our gate from our porch onto the back yard worried me and that had started happening shortly after we got back from our visit to the USA.
So we decided if we are even remotely going to be moving back to the USA in the next 3 months to 1 year it's most likely going to be easier to rehome a flock of just hens then a flock with a rooster. Plus his agressive move that came out of nowhere was off putting along with the glass that has ended up in our yard plus his relectance to come near the gate when he would normally be the first there looking for hand outs and treats.
So with the on going issues and the concern over his safety we have rehome him. to the roasting pan. It's sad but at lest I know it was quick and as humane as possible
.
Seriosuly tho if you live in a rual area your bound to have chickens and roosters so why move there and expect there to be none...
