Managing chickens.smells,flies etc help

Don't you just LOVE it when a plan comes together?! Stick to your guns and stand up for yourself! You're doing everything right and going about it the right way. That's Great!
You'll know pretty quickly if Crazy Lady was your culprit. She'll likely sulk for awhile before she pesters you ... or find another neighbor to vent her rage upon. Either way, ... "Ya done Good!"
I hope the woman moves tho. just had a bit of a rough end to the day. had to put down not 1 but 2 chickens :(. my sweet freya was not improving and found out even if I cured it this time she could keep getting it and pass it to the other chickens so we put her down. and one of my wyandotte boys that I hatched this year had a bit of a funny leg for the last 2 weeks I found out and today he could not walk on it and the others were picking on him and he was shaking so wonder if he got a head injury? either way he has been put down to. so needless to say today has sucked :'(

I'm so sorry! When we first start out with those tiny little fuzzballs, we know they're cute, but we don't know just how far into our lives - and hearts - they'll creep. It hurts to lose even one. Here's to a better tomorrow!
:hugs

Flies are interested in chicken poop, because chicken poop makes an excellent medium in which to grow fly larva into adult flies.

Every young animal on Earth needs high protein foodstuffs to grow and thrive. Because chickens expels excess protein in their manure the feeding of excess protein as well as food spillage and waste attracts flies like a magnet draws iron filings. Also excess moisture means that the fly eggs that are laid in or on chicken manure will hatch and develop in no time only exacerbating your fly problem.

I'll be truthful me and the DH are more upset over having to off our hen freya then red the roo. I feel horrid the husband took the roos body out of the cone before it was done and dropped it and the thing like "ran" scared the hell out of the dog and I'm annoyed and worried we did it wrong :(

It was "done." that's a neurological reaction. You know the old line about running around, "like a chicken with it's head cut off?" Well, that's where it got its' start. And yes, it's VERY disconcerting. Ya want a creepier one? Try it with a snake. BOTH ends keep on going ... and the "business end" still bites!

Ya I have heard of the old sayin I say it a lot actually lol.still tho it annoys me my husband removed the thing to early from the cone. It really scared the heck out of the dog and he has been really good which is kinda unsual for him.. saw crazy lady she gave me a dirty look and went to fli[ me off when the hubby pointed to his dash cam as we drove by lol

Well thought I would give a update. I expect another complaint to come through any day from the crazy lady complainting about the rooster & now my dog. Last weekend or the weekend before we finally got our new fence up as we needed a new one up before we leave to visit my family in the USA in a few days time. How the gates are set up atm gives a clear view down to the gate of the 3rd house i.e crazy ladys!

So since putting it up my dog at random times when he is out will start barking his head off I have tried for days to see what is bothering him as he never barks! I finally managed to sneek out 3-4 times today and have seen her all 3-4 times dressed all in black trying to cover her face slamming her gate and acting odd.

she finally saw that I had seen her face she looked at me all mad with a nasty little scowl on her face and I looked straight back at her and said I truely hope your not the one that is willfully causing my dog to bark his head off and causing distress to him,me,my daughter, my chickens and possibly our neighbours which as you know by doing so you violate my rights as well as our neighbours rights of enjoyment of our gardens etc and that I would sadly have to report this back to my case handler that's been attached to me because of your complaint and also informed her I had to inform them how she had harassed/verbally abused me and admitted to me that she had reported me and that they told me they had made a note of it on the case.

Oh the look on her face flipping priceless!

Well i believe i will be relying my post here to make a police report to the local police. I was on vaction from Dec 11 to Jan 1st and had a friend watching the chickens. Well i was informed the night i got back by my friend that someone called the RSPCA and claimed my chickens were abandoned no food water etc we all believe it was crazy lady who made this call. The RSPCA officer who came out talked to my friend and found that the call was basically bogus as the chickens were fine and looked in great shape.

Come today i have another issue, another noise complaint has been issued but this time its not just my cockerels its my chickens in general that are the noise issue now. I called the guy up explained everything that has happened told him who we believe made the report asked for a note again to be added if this is the case and told him a false report was also placed with the RSPCA and believe it was the same woman explained to him that that the woman said my chickens were going one way or another he went quite reassured me it was going to go through investigation and he put notes down about the woman an suggest i talk to the police. I apologized to him if i seems emotional as im at my wits end with this lady. He again assured me that the investigation was just starting and suggested i make sure all my extra cockerels were gone by next weekend. And again suggested i get a hold of the police.

On a better note i might be selling off my flock anyway as my parents are talking about maybe buying a family butcher shop and getting my husband a work visa so we can all move back over there. Which quite frankly im tried of having to deal with this pain in the back side woman!

Back to where?
Could be a great move, geographical 'cure'....away from that neighbor.
:fl
Back over there to the USA.

I would much perfer if this woman got a hobby tho in the mean time well other then drinking and spending her time poking her nose in other peoples lives and cause them trouble and distress which she seem like a pro. I wonder if that's why the people wanted to move out of the house my husband bought so quickly.
Also I will not give up my chickens for a bratty old lady who needs to go to some AA meetings and get her big nose out of other people lives before she gets in trouble with the police for harassment.

Plus side the guy who wants my extra cockerels is coming Saturday (today if your in the UK tomorrow if your in the USA) to take them off my hands.
