Did she turn up?I am now missing on of my RIR girls. ... This is not normal for either of my RIR girls so needless to say I'm worried and very peeved off!
No and I have asked my nearest neighbors they have not seen her they have not heard of and reports of foxes or badgers either, also have not found any of her feathers it's like she just vanished! she is the only one missing.Did she turn up?
While I agree there is more to work then just the drink i to though Alzheimer thought about dementia as well and told her son as I caught her staring daggers at me while she was in her sun room off the back porch but that was a quick glace as I am still looking for my little daisy (lazy daisy the RIR). if she truly has alzheimers or dementia along with drink then she as well as her family have my sympathy but if she is just a mean drunk she can bugger off a cliff doing the jive. still tho i'm sure there is more going on hopefully the son will get her help which I have heard through the grape vine (his wife) they are looking so thats good.Your neighbor may simply have alcohol issues, which can be bad enough, but I think she may be experiencing Alzheimers. You say she used to be nice and you had no problems with her before. Anger is a common result of Alzheimers as are delusions. She may actually not have flies in her house, but truly believe she does. I have seen this with my MIL and now with my SIL. They both have reported incidents that we know never happened as real events, for example my MIL was convinced that workmen were entering their apartment and smoking out on the balcony. She complained about them leaving their cigarette butts on the floor. No butts on the floor ever, of course. This may be something to mention to the son. Please do not engage in arguments with her, that will only make it worse. If this is the problem, she is truly not in her right mind, and she cannot help herself. She deserves sympathy.
I have 3 houses my biggest is about 10x6 we are reducing our flock. right now there is dirt and pebbles in their run. sadly the new spot they are in has a large custom made 15x17 covered run. about 4 days ago it was dry but had loads of rain and it has brought more flies. I have ordered fly traps. she lives 3 house down and has been know to be unstable (and a drinker). anyone got some suggestions for use inside coops for flies?
If I only cleaned out my coops twice a year ppl here would have a stroke. Got one of my fly traps out it seems to be working now I'm just getting mite issues dang lil buggers hate them. Still have not found my missing chicken either. But one of the young roos from one of my hatches is being a jerk to my girls even got a hold of my necked neck girl and left a red mark. Think I'm going to fatten him up a bit more and make a Sunday roast dinner out of him!I wish I could control flies, mice and snakes. I live next door to a Pilgrims pride chicken farm. They clean out the coops twice a year and I get tons of mice and a few snakes. The flies this year was horrendous! I just live with it and add a few more flies with my two chickens an two ducks.
I recently saw this hanging by someone's back door and wondered what that was about - this could explain it (and suggests another believer); I'll ask her next time I see herThis could possibly sound silly, however give it a try. Fill clear plastic bags with plain water, hang them around your coop. Guaranteed fly remover. Phil
