OMG! I heard definite peeping coming from the eggs and when I looked closer, I saw the membrane at the pip site pulsing with each peep! I can hardly contain myself! C'mon 'lil guy! You can do it!

Well it's about time to wrap things up for today. The tally is 10 eggs total of which 5 have pipped. Several are peeping pretty regularly and mamma is clucking in response to the peeping. I probably won't check again tonight but I'll be up early in the morning to see what happened overnight. I'm assuming that chicks in the eggs aren't on any kind of schedule associated with daytime/nighttime yet. Is that correct? Meaning the chicks won't intentionally wait until a certain time of day to unzip and plop out, right? I'm hoping to find some chicks under Dottie in the morning but if that doesn't happen, I'll certainly expect them to hatch tomorrow. How long is average for the time from pipping to hatching? I've read anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours. I don't think I could wait 48 hours! LOL.

Dottie is now a Mommy! Three eggs hatched overnight and there is considerable progress on the other ones. I didn't want to disturb everyone too much so I only a pic of one of the peeps for right now.

Here's some pics to catch you all up.

Here's Dottie on Day 20. Notice how pale her comb and wattles have gotten:

I'll be checking frequently throughout the day. I'm hoping to get a picture of a freshly hatched chick still wet.
