Well it's about time to wrap things up for today. The tally is 10 eggs total of which 5 have pipped. Several are peeping pretty regularly and mamma is clucking in response to the peeping. I probably won't check again tonight but I'll be up early in the morning to see what happened overnight. I'm assuming that chicks in the eggs aren't on any kind of schedule associated with daytime/nighttime yet. Is that correct? Meaning the chicks won't intentionally wait until a certain time of day to unzip and plop out, right? I'm hoping to find some chicks under Dottie in the morning but if that doesn't happen, I'll certainly expect them to hatch tomorrow. How long is average for the time from pipping to hatching? I've read anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours. I don't think I could wait 48 hours! LOL.
