Ah yes, I discovered that I think he might be a pure bread Australian standard Araucana - does that look right?

I do not know enough about the Australian standard to say for sure, but I do not see anything obviously wrong. So maybe

If you separate them into 2 flocks, just rotate free ranging, on the odd days this flock goes out and on the evens the other flock goes out.

I'm trying this now. I have my egg layers, which are larger, and my hobby chickens. They are smaller silky mutts with old English bantams. I have a feeling I will choose one rooster in the end. Maybe no roosters.
