mandarin duck has no breast feathers

My mandarin drake is in breeding plumage and is missing so much breast feathering that all is left is down. I first thought is was stress, but he is not afraid of people and doesn't pace so I don't think he is pulling out his own feathers. Maybe his feathers get pulled out by the other drakes. I know he isn't going into eclipse plumage right now since all my other drakes aren't missing any feathers. He doesn't have any unusual symptoms of anything and acts totally normal. Could use some help. Thanks!
