mane and tail

i'm getting the welsummers ready for the state fair. i read in this forum that bathing is a plus and conditioner another. no one has ever said (to my knwledge) what kind of conditioner. so i bought mane and tail shampoo and conditioner, it says not to rinse, i was wondering will this harm them? and one more time, what' s the best time to bathe and condition, the day of or.....

I would bathe them about 2-3 days before showing and not use the conditioner. They have to preen up their feathers so it's not really like fur. You bathe them a few days before so they can put their natural oils on their feathers. Maybe someone here conditions and can tell you what they use.

I seen this in McMurray... Its show shampoo.. maybe thats what your suppose to use..

Mane and Tail is fine, I use it on my horses, and in a pinch, I myself have used it. Look into Show Sheen as well.
