Mangy Fox/ Chupacabra

If you would rather not dispose of the creature yourself, call animal control. I'm quite certain they will come out and take care of it for you.

Ok a quick mange lesson here. There are 2 types of mange that affect canines. Demodectic and sarcoptic. Demodectic mange is usually found in certain breeds in puppyhood and in conjunction with certain medical conditons. It is not contagious. The mangy fox your seeing has Sarcoptic mange and is highly contagious. Sarcoptes mites can be passed to both dogs and cats and can be passed to humans although honestly you would have to be in such poor condition healthwise mange would be the least of your concerns. If you do kill it use gloves when handling and make sure to keep any family pets far away from it. Dispose of the body by burying it deeply or burning it if you can stand the smell. Good luck

I hope everything turns out okay. I could not help but laugh when I got the visual of you throwing edging bricks at this thing.

I would have been chucking them bricks not caring that I can't throw for anything.

Oh I am so sorry. That is an awful thing to go through.
So sorry for your losses.

A twenty two rifle might well kill the fox if you are able to hit it in a vital area.
However my advice to any non gun owner would be to find a gun owner rather than purchase a weapon and attempt to kill a potentially dangerous wounded/sick animal with out first being very familiar with the weapon and the killing of animals with it.
If you live in an urban area you may also have shooting restrictions.
My advice would be to contact your state game regulatory agency and discuss this, most likely they would send out a management agent or recomend someone to remove the animal.
good luck and sorry for your troubles.

I would not use a .22 for shooting fox or anyother animal at adistance, the chances of missing or maming is too high. .22 can travel for a mile before being stoped by something.
a .223 varnmit rifle would be better or a 30.06 with a sabot.
For any animal that has either types of Mange the kindest most humane thing to do is to put it down. its a slow and painfull death. even the worse preditor doesnt deserve to die so slowly.
