Ok I read the label on this. Question why buy it when first 2 ingredents are corn and soy meal? Seems like a waste of money when other good ingredients are much lower. I would rather but the flax and stuff and make my own or have the feed mill do my own mix for me. Much cheaper and better. But them i do not like to feed alot of corn to my chickens.

Thats true, corn and or soybean is in almost all food products, look at the products in your grocery store. But yeah i just got my first bag of the conditioner today. Hope it works.

Yes, it is the bulk of most feed but not because it is nutrsious but because it is cheap. Soy is not digestable to most animals including us unless treated a certain way. It is actually harmful in raw state for many people. Corn is very low in nutrients but very high in fat. Both of these are major allergy feeds that pass threw on to humans consuming products from animals. Going to a feed mill you can make up your own formula and not use these ingresdeints. It would be cheaper just buying the flas and or sunflower and feeding it than the bag of high priced conditioner for 5 lbs.​

That is why soy meal or roasted soy beans are used in animal feed. Only the ignorant feeds raw soybeans. Once. This is true of nearly all dry legume seed.

And yes corn is high in calories, low in many nutrients. That is it's purpose. It does have some other nutrients, but it's greatest purpose is to supply carbohydrates and some fats. Both of which are major nutrients and very much necessary in any but the most specialized of animal feeds.

If you think there are other, cheaper feed components out there that can do the same thing as soy meal and corn I invite you to go to whatever local mill you have and have them mix you up a batch. I have used many grains and feed components over the years. Some are very good, some less so, NONE were cheaper than corn.

There is a reason why corn is the most widely grown grain in the U.S. and the most common feed ingredient there is. It gets the necessary job done and it's cheap. Of course there are other feed components to be found, some of which are better for some things than corn, but none of which are going to be cheaper.

If you're not having to make a profit from your animals you can feed whatever you please no matter how uneconomic. If you are having to make money from them your choices of feed components are going to dwindle sharply.

My chickens wont eat the manna pro. All the other chickens will eat it except the ones i want to give it to. I went to check this morning and they ate their regular feed but didn't touch the manna pro. I thought they would like it since it has fish meal in it, i guess i thought wrong. Should i just continue to leave it in there and hopefully they'll recognize it as food?

Well, chickens are rarely a fan of "new." Just give them a little more time.

I don't mix mine with their food. I hold it in my hand as an evening treat a couple of times a week, usually after I've picked them up and handled them. They like the manna pro just as well as they do the grease-soaked oatmeal or scrambled eggs I give them as treats every now and then.
