My 1 yr 1wk old Easter Egger named Brownie, that lays a pink egg, took 7 months to lay her first egg. I realize it is common for EE's. November 13th she laid her first large, thick egg. Then proceeded to lay 6 nice eggs every 7 days. Pretty good for winter. She even laid through the horrible single digit streak between Christmas and New Years. At the end of January, she may have bounded up, and laid 2 eggs, both good, in 1 day. Waited 6 days to lay another egg, the first small one of her life. Total February days laying was 7. Then she laid 7 days in March. That maybe would not bother me, but all throughout February and March, about half of her eggs that were good are dropped from the perch overnight. Many off days I find soft shell remnants when I turn the deep coop bedding, pink at that. On days she lays a good egg, it is a great thick shell. Many days she lays in the nesting box for hours, and I find NO egg. Otherwise, all non-egg laying activities, she seems totally normal. I estimate in a group of 11, 6 being mature, she ranks #2. My WL I believe is #1, as she does what she wants, bothers nobody, nobody bothers her. Brownie, on the other hand, is a relentless bully when it comes to the 5 four month olds.
