Maple's kitten adventures...

Hows the cat doing? I always have an emergency delivery kit handy. Towels (old rags), sharp scissors, thread. Thread to tie the cord, rags to help clean and stimulate the baby. Hope all goes well.

Thanks schellie...I'm going to go have to get one ready. This will be my first time. I have seen on animal cops...when they briskly rub kittens that aren't thriving. I might have to tie thier cords? Or cut cords?

Mama cat is very friendly and is in my back bathroom. This is an old home and most doors are sliding doors if there are doors on a room and the cats can open those up easy enough...so I have her in the back bathroom. I have a box with a big blanky in it between the cupboard and toilet. A litter box in front of the toilet. Food and water in front of the sink/cupboards. A cat bed that has a bottom and top to it on the counter if she jumps up there and wants to sit. And an old flannel sheet on the ground.

Yay chicks, I keep reading that they like to go in closets where it's dark to have thier kittens...so then I was wondering if she'd like me to leave one of the doors for under the sink open and make a nest in there too? That way she'll have options.

Sonew...I can't wait either.

Hi buffsters!!! You're brimming with kindness today...I need to take your temp.

I have that ready because i have had to help deliver goats and kittens and dogs. I don't think there will be a problem but it never hurts to be ready. I had to tie and cut cords on one cats kittens because they came so fast one right after the other she actually had 2 sticking out when I went to help. I also had to help my small dog. Now with all the animals fixed I don't have to worry but I still keep a kit ready just encase someone I know needs help. I figure its always better to be prepared then not. If you do need to rub a kitten have some one throw the towel in the dry to help warm it up helps some. Keep us posted when she has her kittens.

Aww! Shes beautiful!! I cant wait to see what color kittens she has!

My vet also told me to put Gibby on some good quality kitty vitamins....
Maybe the vet has some there they can give you a free sample of?

That scab is a massive one. Whatever it was WAS deep and gross. I asked my vet if he thought it was an abcess? He said it could be but it was dry and not oozing anymore and will heal up on it's own...said I could use like a neosporin type thing if I wanted. But her whole neck is bare...it lost all her fur because of the wound...nasty thing what ever happened. And you can tell it's not straight edges like someone like a vet shaved her to deal with the wound.

ok, it's started.

Baby #1 is out. It looks to me that part of it's intestines are sticking out. It's crying and mama is purring.
