Maran Cuckoo sexing

View attachment 2279454
The chickens in the picture are Cuckoo Marans, and are aproxemately 2,5 months old. I am not sure about their sex, my guess is; the one in the back is a rooster and the one in the front is a hen. Could someone confirm this, or am I wrong?

The one in the foregorund looks like it may by cuckoo marans crossed with a crested cream legbar, in that case it will likely be an olive egger. :)

Yeah, I knew the odds were against me but I left the house promising chicks and needed to deliver on that 🤣 I told them to not get attached in case all roos and got silkies they could get attached too

I got these, straight run, at tsc, so they didnt even know the breed. I will be shocked if I get even one pullet. A friend thinks cuckoo maran, I've never raised those so I'm not sure. The white are silkies and will be pets no matter the sex, but I dont need 8 roos! So lunch maybe?
Their feet look yellow right? They look like barred rocks, they look just like mine at that age. Some looks like they’re feathering in to be cockerels, but there’s a couple that look like they could be pullets. What do their front of their legs look like? Any that have a dark wash down them?

Is it just me, or does it look like those chicks have rose combs? If that is the case, they are Dominiques.

Judging by the barring, I think you have one or maybe two pullets in that group. Just a guess, though.
My guess was 1 or two pullets as well. As for the breed I am only certain that these are not buff orpington like the tsc employee was certain they were... I've raised those before.

Yes, a couple have darker skin going down the legs and at least one has some but it's more of a splash than wash for that one. I can get photos in the morning. The yellow legs may be the flash, I'll check that in the morning as well.

You will love the silkies, they are the sweetest little fluff nuggets! :)
Yes! We've raised a lot of them a several years back and love them! My profile pic was our first silkie roo named jade. He was wonderful and beautiful! However, he was much too big for his britches and met his demise by attacking our dog through the chain link fence while free ranging one day.
