Maran s????

So a bit of background on August 15th my husband and I purchased 7 maran chicks 2 days old from tractor supply. Spoke with women who confirmed all were pullets.
We then drove to atwoods and purchased 7 more marans. Also told they were all pullets but a week old.

Heres where my confusion comes in. The colors seem so different in both sets of pullets. Some seem to be much lighter. Which id read can indicate roosters but we were told they were pullets.( understand may have been labeled wrong)
Next i feel the feet are different colors. The darker birds have more a grey color then the lighter ones.
Some but not all lighter ones do seem to have a more noticeable comb. Im no chicken expert but from my understanding dominiques are rose combed. Barred rock aren't as blurry on the bars??? What is going on here? Thanks in advance.

Not sure it makes a difference but all pullets were banned from hatchery on darker chicks. But tractor supply never bands them

look like cuckoo marans but do not see feathers on legs the larger comb is likely a cockerel barred have yellow legs

In your pics I'm seeing mostly cockerels.
I wonder if they were actually sexed as cockerels and they lied to you...

We have twelve 2 died. Some of the photos only show the five lighter colored ones. Not sure if those are the ones you think can be roosters

Females will be darker and look more speckled. Males will be more white with more barring. With white legs and beaks they do look like American cuckoo Marans.

If they are about 6-8 weeks any with red combs and waddles are more then likely 90% male. Females won’t pink up until they are ready to lay.

x2. These are hatchery cuckoo Marans, and the males are lighter colored with bigger and redder combs. You have 'straight run' chicks; some cockerels, and some pullets. Plan to keep only one cockerel, if any, and move the others on. They will be tasty!
Feed stores are notorious for mislabeling their chicks, which can be very aggravating.
I have no experience with Atwood's. Is it a feed store? Hatchery?

French Marans have some feathering on their legs, will lay darker eggs, and are available through some hatcheries, and for show quality, from private show breeders.
I have some from Cackle hatchery, and like them very much.

Atwoods is another store just like tractor supply. That was where i got the darker birds that were older and all banned as being sexed females/ pullets.

Tractor supplies were not banned just in bin that said pullets and employees said pullets

Honestly i find Dominique, barred rock and these Marans look so similar but was wanting the darker brown eggs. Not the darkest just darker than tan is fine
