I've read on several posts Cuckoo Marans are good table fare. I'm curious why other colors of Marans aren't mentioned (or at least I didn't read it). Would there be that much difference in say a blk copper, cuckoo, and a wheaten as to meat taste/meat qualities? Or is it most of those people posting about the Marans have cuckoos?
Thanks.

I eaten my black copper marans, and Olive egger roosters often I think they taste great! Better than cornish x, leg horn, or freedom rangers, all of which I have processed and eaten fresh.

I'm with Keara. Though I haven't done it yet, I will be using Black Copper Marans she gave me to build a dual purpose flock. I can't wait to try one of these, even the hens are pretty meaty and my cockerel is a big boy!
