I have an older Orpington and two young Marans- one Black Copper and one Splash. The Marans just recently(like a couple of weeks ago) started laying. I was surprised at how small the eggs were. My last Marans, Flora- see avatar, laid large eggs. These are smaller than some bantam eggs I have seen. What is up with that- also, they are light brown, not nearly as dark as I thought. Any thoughts?
