2 more chicks now! but one is yellow!?!? aren't BCMs supposed to be BLACK? Also, the yellow one was born with something green on her bottom...I didn't notice anything like it on the other two....should I be concerned? I love my little chicks!!

I have noticed that the chick born this morning is now pecking at the other two..especially the toes and bottom of the yellow one...even the new black one is pecking at the yellow chick...is this normal and how long should I wait before taking them out? The chick born this morning is so much stronger than the other two...amazing how fast they get their strength..

I have a baby!!!

They will peck at each other, eyes they love each others eyes and beaks, you just want to make sure that they are not grabbing something and trying to rip it off because they don't know that its not food. When they get strong enough they will play a sort of tug of war game with anything they see....toes, feathers what ever they can peck and get in their beak, just watch them, my last hatch some mean little babies got ahold of one little babies wing tips and went to town on it during the night, the next morning when I got up it was a little bloody stump. Usually they don't cause harm to each other but they can.

Little yellow baby you say........some lines of BCM carry a reccessive Wheaten gene and often these little beauties show up.

Gaeamama~ Congratulations .....bring on the babies!

Wow, that is a lot of them with blood rings, sorry to hear that

. I don't know why that would happen to so many, I wish it wasn't so. On a better note, looks as though the rest of your candling results are good.

Setting again on Saturday I am hoping for roos and seem to be getting more girls

A couple days ago I moved my broody and her broody sister to their new broody boxes and gave them a couple of random teaser eggs to sit on so that they would be enticed to sit and settle down after their move. 1st day after the move went fine, both girls were sitting no problems, yesterday upon doing some chores I notice that the "broodies" had thrown their teaser eggs out of their boxes, one girl was sitting on nothing and fiercely protective of that nothing and her sister was gallivanting around. I tossed the non sitter sister back into the laying coop.
Last night when I ran back out to check on her I gave her 12 BCM eggs and this morning she is still sitting strong. She took every one of those eggs from me and rolled them under her. I just sat them in front of her one at a time....poof it was gone. She was clucking to herself and the eggs this morning when I checked on her. Yippee! My incubator that I don't have to adjust.
