The easiest way to understand the SOP is borrow a used one and check page 5 thru 39 and it will be easier for you to see all the Cuts for defects. The Marans will not be in any of the SOP that you find as they are not approved by the APA yet. They will not be included until the next book is published after approval. Which will be several year. They have just came out with a new SOP book recently. Don

I'm going to be nice and not play the "Racial Card" in this game....It just seems that your avatar of a mad, wrinkle-faced, pot-bellied pig does not exemplify who you are...just a thought....or then again.........

Mel...I've had the pleasure of meeting Lisa (math ace) in person. She is beautiful and as funny and vivacious as her posts indicate. I am proud to call her my friend.
She also has a very talented and supportive DH, just so you know

...she is an awesome contributor to this thread isn't she

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her in person but I can read between the lines & agree X2....!!!!!!!!!!!
Lisa was one of the very first to jump in & offer help to me when I first came on this forum.

Carrie is another great resource.............very knowledgable & a straight shooter. She has been a great support with me trying to learn to make the "hard choices". When we are starting "where we are", "with what we have" that can be very difficult.

Check out the egg I got yesterday from one of the BCM girls....it had to hurt! Photo'd it next to a good size avacado for comparison. It weighs 126.4 grams and 3" and 3/8" long. Its a WHOPPER! I can't blame her for the color of it either I don't think.

Pink-I saw the picture before I read your text. My instant thought was, "Who's she trying to kid. That's not an egg. That's an avacodo."

Aren't emu eggs about the color of an avacado?

"Ouch" for the hen that laid the REAL egg.

Just kidding, of course. Beautiful, aren't they?!

BTW, what are you doing with that? Do you raise them too? If you painted one pink, and put it in your front yard, do you think people might mistake it for a giant flamingo?

They are beautiful! You know that movie Risky Business and the mom had that crystal egg......well this is my crystal egg. It sits in my china hutch where I admire it all the time. I do not raise them but my neighbor does, I tried to incubate her females last 7 eggs for her last year, not one hatched and her female passed away just before the eggs were suppose to hatch. The female was overloaded with worms and my neighbor did not know that Emu have to be wormed regularly as they have a low tolerance and overload will kill an Emu faster than alot of other animals. I kinda figure that if the female was that overloaded with worms and it killed her that maybe the eggs were infested as well and perhaps it is why they did not hatch. I didn't crack any of them open to see why not.....sorry not the same as a chicken egg.

After her female died she consoled her self and purchased some Black Copper Marans.

She could use a little more copper around the neck

hee hee hee hee

Math~ I love her! I can't remember her name...is it Sophia? Don't ever change her as your avatar please! But you are right....she could use a little more copper around the neck and she's a bit larger than the standard calls for, but overall I think you've got yourself a good start there.

Is it a Splash or is it light blue? I really can't tell in the photo but it looks splash to me and yes photo'ing chicks can be a chore. Can't wait to see more of them. Can you tell how many blues there are? Feathered shanks....what's going on there, how we looking on shank feathering? Did we get any clean legged little buggers this time? Shank feathering has been very good lately so I am thinking these should be pretty good, yes?
Thanks again! They are SWEET!
