Reminds me of a joke I heard about an extremely amorous Roo who did that same thing but had his eyes closed & when the farmer, who saw buzzards circling lower & lower, wondered what had happened the Roo opened one eye and said "be quiet, they are going to land!"

Sounds like they are Water Logged from too much Humidity

Hmm did dry hatch this time on these, until I put them in lockdown then bumpted it up. Maybe I will try less humidity at lockdown also.

Hey Lisa, very nice splash Pullet, did you check for white feathers and white under color ?

Do I detect a sense of humor this morning??

hehe - on that note - are variations of white/silver allowed for Splash?
My little cockerel is very silvery at 9 weeks

My pullet is nearly white with a few darker grey feathers - like maybe 4...

I don't think there is even a proposed standard for splash. . .

I only have the ONE splash, BUT PINK has many, many, ( or hatched many) splashes.

I would have to default to her for this question. . . . .

Lisa, I would like to be a fly on the wall if they ever try and draw up a standard for the splash. There would have to be more than one or they would have to have a lot of variations. With all the different ways of getting the splash it will not be easy to get an approved Standard that is acceptable with the splash breeders.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I already have 4 broody Game hens.

Ya know, every one of these birds is starting to hide eggs.

Say it isn't so!!!!!!!!!!!

I kid you not. These look nothing like Marans eggs. I did get enough dark ones to cover my swaps, but I wanted to add more extras. These aren't even milk chocolate! They're the color of Flan!

I think game hens must be the broodiest things ever! I have key west hens they have a lot of 'game' in them. So far every one of them has gone broody this spring and one has gone broody twice! Yesterday I found two that had nests with about a dozen and a half eggs in each. I stole all of them because I am so sick of the broodies. If they are gonna hatch chicks it will have to be with the eggs I want them to have muuhaha, not thier own. I have silkies and buff orp hens that are the same age as the kw hens are and none of them have gone broody yet. If ya want a broody get something with game in it LOL!

I actually have an auction up for more eggs that are FBCM x Game. I've sold lots of them and lots of the chicks. I figured since I heard Marans were so tasty and couldn't go there, I'd mix the two. This will give me none stop brown eggs and meat birds and I'll also have broodies and they will do better in the awful heat we get here.

'On another note. I collected the first 2 eggs today. They're darker! Don't know why, but they are. Not as dark as before, but sooooo much darker than the last few days.

Thing is I didn't do anything different yet. I have everything together to start, but I was going to take care of it all today. This whole thing still has me stumped. I'm going to dust and worm them again. I have my cinnamon and turmeric ready, so I'm going to do that and I also remembered something I haven't added in a while. Chilli peppers. I figured it would make them to warm during the hot days we had and stopped giving it to them. I wonder if that was it.
