Yep, very interesting stuff.

I've decided that I never want to breed dogs (whelping toy dogs can be a nightmare) but I'll breed chickens any day of the week

Plus, you don't have to take chickens to obedience school and grooming is a snap

Haha, hope you cuddled your boy and made him regret ever even walking your way.

Pinks, that works for me. Still have yet to move my stock out to OR as my coop has yet to be built....hopefully in the next 2 weeks. Need my dogs out here too....saw a fox slip out of the tall grass right by the house yesterday am and just know He can't wait to sink his teeth into one of my chooks. Gotta prevent that!!

My new, potential broody, Marans' egg hatchers are starting to pop!!

One Silkie has hatched, but I can't tell the color due to the tinted bator glass. I'm thinking Splash or Partridge. The egg was marked, but that end hatched away so I can't see it. Cute lil bugger, and about half the size of my Marans chicks! One more is zipping, a white one; and two more are pipping, a black and a partridge!

It's only day 20, so I've got a ways to go. "Chicken TV" will be the alloted channel tonight!

Hi Debbi!

Congrats on your broody hatch. I love watching the little mamas with their chicks. I have one broody hen in the barn under the nests. She is sitting on 6 marans eggs. I have two other STUPID hens that keep going broody in the roll out nest! I'm really worried about them. I can't keep them out of there, and it is so freaking hot I am afraid they are going to cook themselves. I've opened the coop up as much as I can for ventillation, but I'm still worried about these two girls in there trying to sit on eggs that just roll out from underneath them!

My other hen should be hatching within 10 days I would guess. I hope she gets some chicks. I just lost a little marans chick yesterday. I don't know if it was the heat or not. I think it was the late hatcher that died.
