Have we discussed cushions in the hens? I looked with a very critical eye at my flock yesterday, and noted that none of them have a full cushion, but one has a small cushion; I'm guessing it's not an issue either way, as it's not called out in the SOP - thoughts?

Math, thanks for posting the point system again - it's at the very beginning of this thread, but it's grown by leaps & bounds, so not a bad idea to post it again on occasion!

flgardengirl ~ I must see these roos!! 5 bucks a pop for show quality?? Did I just say that out loud? I need more roos here??!

As far as the cushions go, I'm still waiting for feathers to grow back from over zealous roos!

Alot of mine are missing feathers too. I hadn't thought about the cushions (do you mean thier butts?) but I do like big butts and I cannot lie...on the marans hens anyways lol. I will have to go look at them all later from the rear view. I know my cuckoo girls are missing some serious behind feathers.
My BCMs have started laying again they went on strike for awhile during this heat but I found some super darkies yesterday. I was thinking I had an egg eater or the blasted egg eating snake was back for awhile there.

If I'm not wrong, the "cushion" is the poof of feathers on the top side of the back, at the base of the tail?

Those aprons I got for my girls are really helping them recoop their feathers. Helps the roos too, as now they find they can grab the apron better than the feathers!

It's a win/win!
