Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Here is a Blue Copper gal that I am going to keep and you can see the second Splash pullet behind her hiding her fluffy self. I will try to get more photos of her (the splash) today....yesterday she was being a pooh.

This Blue Cpr pullet does have leg feathering....lightly feathered at that and not street sweepers, but it is something to work with. I suspect she will be very dark once matured. She was very very light pale blue when hatched. I was for sure that she was a he for about 2-3 weeks after hatch, but I was pleasantly relieved.
This was her as a chick.

Apologies for poor image quality. I am having to reduce the size of the photos so much to upload them that they are turning out very grainy looking.

Remember this gorgeous little chick??????

This is him now, running away from like he always does...so sorry if the photos are less than quality and don't show his true self. He really is looking more and more like a keeper every day. He is the product of a Black Copper x Blue Copper......love his nice deep black color (will get better photos of him and the rest of the gang today, maybe he will be less freaked out by my presence in the coop and relax a bit...he truly is a nice deep black). He doesn't normally carry his tail this high. Also, his eyes are not as dark as they appear in the picture either. Oh and don't mind the busy body Blue Copper cockerel in the back of the photo...he's a nosey nellie twerp and I will get photos of him today as well.

Cheryl~

The Blue Coppers change at the same rate as the Black Coppers...but truly it depends on each individual bird.

Thanks Vicki, Debbi and Bangarang! I am really enjoying watching this batch of chicks grow out. Wish I could have.....okay let me rephrase that.....wished I wasn't so lazy and had caught photos of them each week as they progressed like Vicki suggested....but you know sometimes it just doesn't happen.
