Then I'd say, keep the Splash! That Cuckoo just struck me as really henny, glad it's a she for you! I've had several BCM hens that hatched with huge combs, only to go onto lay lovely eggs.Ok, just went back out to the coop. The splash roo doesn't hold his tail to one side-must have been the photo. It does look like my BC boy has a sprig, though. And the Cuckoo does indeed appear to be a pullet with a ginormous comb and wattles--how strange!
Thanks Laughingdown. I know nothing about this breed, so any input is gratefully appreciated. I'll try to get more and better pics later on. Thanks!
Quote: In my little flock of CM chicks, I look at the combs and see 2 roosters. THen I look at the HUGE white spot on at least 4 more and goEither I have two roosters , or I have 6. WHen is feathering useful as a factor?![]()
I filled mine up, punched a small hole above the zipper, and hung them with brass wire. That way they can spin too!
I see on the BC some feather shafting and eventually will have too much breast color to use as a breeder. The Comb would be called uneven serration not a sprig I believe.
The splash is all around the better male. Are all of these out of the same breeding pen or seperate ?
The Cockoo is most likely a male as he has saddle feathers. Looks to have a lopped comb and maybee Vulture Hocks.
