Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Dirty White Boy

7-ish months old. Hatched from a good colored egg. Has better leg feathering, lighter leg color and after looking closer at him yesterday, he has good eye color, not too light like I had thought previously. Has an uneven serration in the middle of his comb. Sorry, best photos we are going to get, my cat, Oatmeal, was very helpful this morning while taking photos and kept all chickens on their toes.

Honesty will not hurt my feelings if you say that both should really go.

Really cruddy photo of him, standing all crouched up like a goofus.

Another of him from kinda a top angle. He is the one infront. He really does have a nice tail set.

I would be glad to try and get better photos of him today for you if you need them and if I can get him to stand still.

The other one that I liked best for the longest time, but the last couple of weeks I am liking him less. Same age as the other one. Hatched from a very nice egg. Has very very dark eyes, very dark legs, pulled out his leg feathering. Is not as bulky as the other guy. Has a nice comb. I don't care for his back line anymore, seems like he is carrying his rear higher and higher. If that makes any sense.

Having issue posting another photo of him in this post. Will post more in separate post.

Kim, I know the first two pictures do not do your males justice so will hold off on a couple more pictures. The last picture shows what you really have I believe.

For new people posting pictures, look at the three pictures and remember a picture can really make a Marans look real good or it can actually make them look worse that they are I believe. If not for the third picture I would of not had anything good to say.

Kim, not picking on you just trying to help the next picture poster, What are these males out of as for father and mother ?

Don~ Thanks and no worries, say anything you need to say, I appreciate it and know you are helping us out here. You can't hurt my feelings at all.
These boys are out of a Blue to Blue and Blue to Splash mating. Both have the same father, my Blue Copper roo, Lil Bill.

Having problems uploading more. Be back in a few if you can wait.

Vicki~ Our first Birchen baby is here!!!!!!!

Don~ Going to go get more photos of them. Have to check on preggers goat anyway. Will post them ASAP.

Also have new photos of my young Blue Copper cockerel, who crowed for the first time yesterday and it was pathetic, LOL!

Be right back.

Morning all - haven't been on this thread for a while but just got in a young flock of Lavender Marans. I'll try to take pictures today but this is just a quick one I got before they went in to the pen. And this is the egg color in the flock.

The creator is Bruce Hambrick and I feel so privileged to be the only one that has them!!
