I happen to come home from work today. looking at the Balck copper marans and mostly Cuckoo marans. This one chicken 4 months old sees my finger and lunges at me. Next thing I see is Blood. I guess I never had a beek cut before. I know they are not hungry. are Chickens really the dinasaur age rapters?

Yes. Don't turn your back on mean roosters either they will flog you, it hurts a little, it scares you a lot, then it just pisses you off.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here had any breeding quality FBCM cockrels or roosters they would like to sell and ship to us? Please let me know!
Thanks

I think this is why we are so fascinated with them. (at least at my place)
It is our own little Jurassic park and if the dinosaurs "p" me off, I eat em. Power over the dinosaur..Roooaaaaaarrrrrrr...

Kidding aside, I always remind the kids to keep an eye on the Roos and the Tom. I have to remind myself too sometimes....

For example: I had a broody that I tried to give some babies to... they were a bit too old for her and she rejected them... they hid themselves in the wood pile and I got home from work to try and save these stupid little things...carefully lifting logs, holding others back with brute strength so they wouldn't topple and squish the littles... listening for peeps and praying I had not just killed them all, by placing them under this ungrateful hen.....I got to a point, shirt stuffed full of babies... looked up and there is broody hen eye to eye with me on top of the wood pile ... I swear she was going to pluck my eyes out for taking her (foul and unfertilized) eggs from here and trying to saddle her with these juvenile delinquents... Scared the poop out of me... how long was this dinosaur there waiting and watching for its opportunity to attack? Good thing she didn't, I was royally "p"ed at her for (in my opinion at the time) trying to kill my little babies! (All recovered and are happy in the brooder)

Patricia

edited to add: these were marans babies, so the storey belongs on this thread! ... cute little feather footed splash, black & blue marans babies... a friend asked me to brood them for her! so not even "my" babies, but I am hoping to get a splash or a nicely coppered black out of the deal!
