Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I just wanted to share a picture of my Blue Marans Charlotte. She is 6 weeks old

Between her and my 10 week old Wheaten Marans Millie, I am impatiently waiting for my Marans eggs........

(I know I have a long wait ahead of me!)

We just picked up day old babies today. We got 2 Black Marans and 2 Blue Marans, although the man told me one of the Blue babies is a 'throwback'. As I understand it, this mean it's not really a Blue and will be more of a cream/tan color?!?! They are very sweet and cute, and have feathered legs. The cool part is when we picked them up, he had others that were hatching and he let my 9yo daughter see them, and help me move some babies and eggs around. She was thrilled! I drove 2 hours each way, but I feel it was well worth it!

I culled a cockerel like this. I thought they were kidding when they said he was rare.... oops.

After seeing Kathinmo's birds-- which no matter what they are she always kicks my seat with how nice her birds are... I have decided I can't wait to 'improve' on what I have. I just spent money on seeds for the year and now I have to go get me some eggs.... (hear that silence.... that is the cavity of nothing left in my purse when I am done)

I like one hen I have here a LOT but its time to get moving on egg and type.
