Yah...you should have "da blues" by then!

I know the lacing will be preferred as it is with other blue varieties already accepted. I just wonder about the different shades.

So here is my roo that I am going to breed with this spring I like him but,.. he has no tail I don't mean feathers I mean flesh I did not notice this when he hatched but as a juvie it was obvious please give me honest and truth thanks

Rumpless?? In my opinion, unless you wanted to introduce this gene into your Marans breeding program, and start a rumpless variety, I sure would not use him. His coloring is also way too dark, and he looks to have no shank feathering. He is also lacking in body, and looks too long in the leg. I would look for another roo to get off to a good start. JMHO

So don't think the no tail thing was just an anomoly(sp) but is in his genes? Nothing else that hatched with him has this problem he is not quite as dark as the picture but yes somewhat dark I just don't like the light colored flame looking copper. I am glad I ask I didn't think the tail was as big a deal as this. Thanks

WoW! I know very little about the tail-less thing. Sorry! I'll bet another great BYC'er knows and will come by and educate us both. I do know that I have read about it here on BYC, though it was quite a while ago. I think I remember a conversation about it in the previous Marans thread.....but it would take forever to find it in there. That was one long thread.

A couple questions for ya? Hope you don't mind..

...do you by chance have any other photos of him that may be a little closer up? That would be awesome if you did.

I apologize if you have answered this or stated it before.....but my brain, you know, it gets all dried up from time to time

He is clean shanked but again all the others were feathered. I love his size so I guess I better get more and find a brother that is better.
