Pullets at that age don't have combs.

DH says I'm allowed to keep 2 which is hard since the one I thought was a pullet until recently. I get VERY attached to my animals. One boy definitely has too much coppering. He has it all over his chest which I know is a fault. But he also happens to be the only blue one and everyone's favorite. The other two boys, one was a blue chick but grew in really dark feathers. He has very very little coppering at all so far (late bloomer) and is tall and lanky at the moment. The other boy is black with a gorgeous Sheen though a bit too much purple in it. He has stunning dark, reddish coppering coming in on his hackles and saddle area. He's very skiddish though, always had been. I managed to take DH into giving me a year to decide so we can see if any of them go mean. Whoever is mean will be the one to go lol. If nobody goes mean, then whoever had the most faults (unfortunately, my Blue) will have to go.
I have one that is mean; pecks at me if I get to close; he's headed for BBQ land. Of the other 2, one has to much copper, coming in on his chest already @ 8 weeks. The last one is looking good so far and is really sweet so it's a no-brainer. I'll try and get pics later. I might try and rehome the coppery one as a pet or OE maker but BBQ is to mean.

Everybody has such beautiful birdies!!! I don't have any Marans but would love to someday. There is an ad on my local Craigslist for "APA Marans" and I was just curious if $25 for a March/April 2014 pullet was a good price? Thanks

I think it depends on the quality of the bird and it is hard to tell on a 2-3 month old. $25 seems a little high to me for that age unless they are from show-winning parents and the offspring are so far looking good. I just sold one today, 3 months old, for $15.

Save me a few DM! Talked to the property owner today, and things are moving ahead!

Thanks for the input! I thought it sounded high, but then again, I am a newbie. The ad says they're "show quality" but I'm just interested in the pretty eggs. :p
