Congrats on your first dark brown egg, Lolita. I'm still waiting for my first one.

flgardengirl,

Remember the other day I asked if the weather has anything to do with behavior?? Cold snap came, all the cockerels were fighting. Today, 70*, mild breeze and sunny. Everyone forgot the other day, and got along outside together! Cold=wild, warm=mild!

Alrighty, here's my gorgeous couple, finally tying the knot. . . . Sort of.

This is my Blue Wheaten cockerel and my best Wheaten pullet in the breeding pen. My cockerel has aged quite a bit since my last photos, but his tail is really starting to bug me. It was nice looking, then bam! It grows sickles, lots of white fluff, and ends up a little lengthy. . .

But, he's still young.

Does anyone have cuckoo marans? I have 5 and I'm waiting for my first egg...only at 4 months though...I have a ways to go.

Anyways....can anyone post some pics of their Cuckoo Marans eggs and tell me how your's behave? I want to see what color they lay. I have heard dark brown, light brown, medium brown, etc. Mine are extremely skiddish and hate to be held. Are mine they only ones?

Illia... what kind of camera are you usings... The pictures are so crisp and spectacular. I love the eye on your rooster.

It's a FujiFilm Finepix S602z - They're not in production anymore, hard to find, and very expensive. A really awesome friend got me this one, primarily for the using of doing macro photography on nocturnal insects. So, with its awesome macro abilities, it also does good overall photos. All my photos are taken with this camera.

Aaanyway, aside the camera - I'm hoping to get good shots of my Blue Wheaten and Wheaten cockerels tomorrow. They've really matured, and I need straight on sideview pose of them, not these birdseye type views.

Also, I really hope my boys are going through an ugly phase, because honestly the more I look at those photos, the more I'm disappointed in how my Blue Wheaten is turning out.

His tail does that "erupt from the hackles" thing, it has a lot of fluff, it's really tall, and his chest isn't getting any deeper, plus he's got a lot of red in his tail and a little red splattering on his chest. Really hope this pullet will fix that up.
