I wish I remembered how many eggs I set...ha ha... I am likely to have plenty of babies.. Kinda hoping for 15 or so... Using an old Hove 1602 so 75 percent hatch would be good... Got a tiny brinsea arriving any day now... I can't believe how fat these babies are!!! Nice healthy little pork chops!!! (It has been a long time since I hatched) last april or may...
I know... and the last ones I hatched were BHB's. My own last hatchies must have been March....I have been quite pleased with them though... Dem lay the nice darkies in the bator... I must say that I like hatching this time of year...Nuthin else to do... and they are ready to lay so I know what I have for fall culling.. I will likely do another hatch with the new bator...10
I will be collecting too for testing out my new toy, we can be hatch buddies. How long will it take for you to collect? I have a few saved now but nearly enough.

So what number of eggs are you planning to set(300)

No...it would take me all month to gather that many eggs right now with the current rate of lay and DH would surely have mental failure with that many chicks.
I'll set as many as I can afford to not put in the eating cartons. We will see.
Ya' know I was just sitting here wondering when was the last time I hatched out a Black Copper chick from my birdies.........I can't remember, so it has been a very long time. Did I wish too hard for only blues???

Maybe you need to go and sweet talk the Black Copper ones too and then see what happens!
Yeah 300 is a lot
, my DH is very involved with the day to day happening- would never be able to pull off something like that
Pink ~ Just how big is the Sportsman bator?? Does it sit on the floor or a table? Looks huge!
There is one for sale near me for $200.00, but says it needs parts. May have to go check it out and see just how many parts it needs. With my luck, it would end up costing more to restore the darn thing!

It's pretty big....30" deep, almost 16" wide and 32" tall it weighs in around 91lbs. I will be putting it on my wrought and glass coffee table that has the home'mator on it, I don't want to stoop to see into it or get into it. I'm going to put the homemade one away fora while and create more space and just use the little LG's for seperate hatchers if needed for different breeds.
I paid $285 plus 6 pretty Welsummer eggs and some gas $$ because he was nice enough to deliver it from 2.5 hours away. All parts in this have been upgraded and replaced with new very recently, I should have asked him how much it put him back to upgrade it before selling it.
Back to work! Must hurry while DH is still willing to help move it for me because it is sitting in the livingroom hall.......we say get skinny to squeeze past it in the hall.
Besides, I ran into with my toes this morning stumbling around half awake and not remembering that it was there.
