Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Pink-I had an incubator like that. It was the BEST! We sold it when we moved. My sister bought it and she has hatched many chickens in it. I wish I still had it. I'm going to keep my eye out for one at an auction or craigslist or something.

I have not idea of what they are but they are cute. Love the barring effect. Do you have a photo of the last chick as a young chick to post again?

Pink, did you build that bator? What does it have for air circulation? I have been madly trying to get my bator up & running and it seems the biggest issue is air flow....

It's a gently used Sportsman that I got a couple weeks ago, just got around to plugging it in and setting eggs. It has 6 air circulation holes in the back with holes covers that slide and it has 2 big loud fans in it I believe, it's got pretty good flow, you can feel it blowing when you open the door.

Are there vents which the fans are blowing into, that redistribute the air? I'm horrible at spelling out what I mean...

Wynette~ The fans seem to be sucking air in from the vent holes at the top of the 'bator in the back and blowing air out toward the front and circulates down toward the bottom then back up the back I would imagine because I don't have any of the lower vents open. Did that help?
