Ignore question I found an old thread and saw pictures, I'm good to keep her.

White earlobes are a DQ in Marans...so I would say you were ripped off. Making chicks and selling them does not make a person a breeder...there are very few real breeders of Marans.

Did you do the breeding or did someone tell you they came from a BCM breeding? The yellow tyke could be from a wheaten gene in one/both of the parents, the others do not look like any BCM chicks I have seen except for the one in the very back (the mostly black one)..........

This is my girl Roberta - the only surviving BCM chick (out of 3) last October from a private breeder in my area . . . she was very well socialized to people and children and is very affectionate. She follows me everywhere and will pull on my shoelaces or peck at my boot to be picked up. She doesn't have very much coppering and her leg feathering is a bit light but her personality is wonderful. If I were ever going to have a house chicken, it would definitely be her!

I am still looking for a male rooster. I will raise one if I have to, but I want to ensure he will ensure brown eggs. No I am not showing. I promise I will not try to show. We sell eggs to military and do better when we have a variety of colors. We have ameracunas, leghorns and buff orphintons right now. We do not produce or sell chicks. We have strictly an egg business. We are only interested in adding color to our eggs.

Libby-, where are you located, I always have an extra maran roo

I am new to the whole chicken thing and due to chicken math got some wheaten marans chicks for a broody hen I couldnt break. I'm pretty sure I have one roo and one pullet but some things dont seem to match with the roo. I dont know anything about the clay coloring either. Supposedly they are purebred of decent lines (parents are from green fire I believe). First two is of the roo in question, He? was smaller and lighter feathered when I got them at about a week old, the second is of his? sister, potentially a few days older. If the age I was told is right they are in the 4-4.5 week old age.

Would love to know what you think!

Libby where are you? I'm in Michigan. I'm going to have extra roos, I'm pretty sure. They are only a couple months old right now though . . .
