Lisa, I have the book and it was and is in great shape. This book is written so that someone as illiterate as my self can understand. It also has all the genetic mumbo jumbo everyone is using today and a lot of it is word for word in some of the new books. He also has pages of pictures showing the same faults found in the SOP. The book is very cheap and you can also get it from Abebooks. No need to twist your arm to get this one.

Morning guys! Hey if anyone uses sevin dust for mites, I found the larger cans on sale at Lowes for 7 dollars since they are clearing out thier garden supplies for the winter. I just found mites on some chickens the other day. It is the first time mine have had it grrr. I was gonna use DE but it is hard to find around here so I went for the sevin. Seems to be working. I got some extra cans while they were on sale.
We got down to 36 last night so this means moving and/or digging up my ultra tropical plants and putting them in the greenhouse so they don't croak lol.
Today feels dreary so here is a O/T of one of my brugmansia blooming (a flowering shrub/tree with long trumpet flowers that are intensly fragrant at night) to make you smile. Hey look pink chick they are PINK lol.

Back to the Marans... Thanks for the info snowbird on the books. I will have to look for them.

I was trying to remember that name! I grew some last year, purple and the white ones. Sweet smelling, pretty to look at, and oh so deadly poisonous.

Angel's Trumpet was the only name I could think of.

Has anyone ever read the book "Genetics of the Fowl- The Classic Guide to Chicken Genetics and Poultry Breeding" by F.B. Hutt?

I stumbled across this book and I am really enjoying it.
