Mine too Pink! This place is more like family to me...and even within families there are disagreements, but we all seem to resolve them with knowledge or the agree to disagree factor! I love it here!!
I posted earlier asking if any on here had an opinion as to whether too much melanizer, or to LITTLE melanizer was harder to breed out. No guesses were posted.
I have another question, which will likely get as many answers, but I'm asking it anyhow.
Which tail fault do you think is harder to breed correct birds fromt? Excess white on an otherwise nice tail, or a squirrel tail with no white and dark fluff?
. I started these yesterday after collecting the last week or so. It will be my first hatch of only my own eggs.
Last year I was mostly setting shipped eggs...I am so less anxious and stressed about these
This is just one bator full, I have another half full one as well...hey, I live in FL
.
The Marans eggs are on the left, the ones in row 5 are Welsummer. The 3 eggs by the thermometer were so spherical,
I couldn't tell which end was up, so I'm laying them on their side and hand turning, until I candle and find where the
egg cell is.
Nice Pix Don... thanks for posting.. I see a nice even coppering across the back of the bird... Really nice job... I really like the cuckoo... His shape (despite the missing tail) is really nice... I wouldn't mind having cuckoo if they all looked like that... Unfortunately I haven't had good cuckoos though I started from the best stock.... I will just stick with the BC... Are we to critique or just admire.. I really like that light box... That really makes the birds jump out at you...
Congrats you hatch a holics... Looks like a new crop of fuzzy butts impending.. Hugs right back at ya pink
Debbi... thanx
I will post another pic of the same crop that belong to the one I posted earlier... I was amazed at the consistency in thier crop of roos.... I hope to get something like this in my yard someday!!! LOL
Honestly I need to find my camera so I can take pix of my own birds...LOL... Just can't figure out what I did with it..

Geebs, that boy looks great! Such a nice flow along the topline into the tail, and a fantastic, full chest.
Will you tell us who owns and breeds these nice roos???
I am looking at the 18 chicks from my first hatching that are only a few days older than yours . . . .
Seriously, there is NO WAY I am doing this again for a while ! The chicks at this age remind me of little 2 year olds - - Just running around making a mess and looking to get into trouble.
I do so like my older flock. When I call their names, they COME running. When I come near the chicks, they GO running.
I made the mistake of turning the ceiling fan on today. Lordy, the chicks FREAKED OUT! They ALL ran to the far side of the swimming pool. They were so afraid. Who would of thought something so tiny would of even noticed the ceiling fan
Cpartist A friend on the east coast that I met last year....Not someone who posts here.... I really like this bird also... that is why I posted it.. It is next to impossible to tell them apart except that the pictures are numbered... a necessary evil here!!! There is only one that is overmelanised and one that is under.. out of 8... I think that is pretty good work... So it isn't impossible I guess.
The person is a hobbyist...not a breeder... No eggs to get...
DRAT... I would have em for sure if there were!!! LOL
