Raven~

Yesterday I caught another one of the GFF girls laying and now that I know which egg is hers, means she has been laying for a more than a couple of weeks. I thought her egg was from one of my Blue Copper pullets that only has 2 feathers on each shank because their eggs resemble each others alot, but the GFF pullets egg is more way round. You got one of her eggs in your package. LoL!!!!!!! I have 2 of her eggs in the 'bator and didn't even know it. Man all mighty she started laying early.

Also got another egg from the GFF pullet that laid her first egg 2 days ago............IT'S DARKER!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning, all! I haven't gotten an egg for a month from my Marans pen...I do not add lights...so, hearing that y'all are getting eggies is a bit of a "fix" for me! Now, for chick pics and egg pics...come on, friends!

Morning Ms. Wynette!

Okay....you asked for it!

Here are 3 eggs I got yesterday, 2 from 2 of the GFF BC pullets (one egg is one girls 1st from 2 days ago it is the egg second from the left) and the first egg on the left is my youngest Wellie pullets 2nd egg. The 3rd egg is the 2nd egg from the GFF pullet (it's darker....

) that just started laying and the 4th egg is from the pullet that I just discovered started laying sooner than I had expected (I caught her yesterday).

ABSOLUTELY LOVE a Chunky monkey !

I have an EE in the house recovering from an eye infection. She has done nothing but eat since entering isolation. I think the girl has put on a couple of pounds in the last week.

She is in full blown molt now - - - so I won't return her to the flock with the 25 F temps outside. I see another week of pigging out in her future. She may end up being bigger than my marans when I return her to the flock !

Who knew?
hu.gif
She was on the lowest rung on the pecking order ladder. She may go back being the biggest and baddest!

Mornin' all!

Chics Love those Plus size girls!! I have three like that, they all look like pigs with wings

I've got to get a scale and weigh them all. At 5 1/2 months old, I'll bet they are all near 7 pounds, they are chunky!

Pink ~ You'd better start talking to that batorful! Start pippin' or I'll fry you all up and feed you to the chooks!
gig.gif
I swear they can hear you, and my chooks all listen when I speak. They all cock their heads like dogs do when I talk to them and are always interested in what I have to say
lau.gif
They don't like it however, when I sing to them. They all shake their heads like they are having a spell. So much for my singing. I may just have to use that as my new threat to get them to lay. "Ok, ladies, I want some eggs or I will be out here singing to you in one hour!"

Wynette ~ Every time the temps take a dive here, the girls go on strike. If we have a nice, warmer day, I get an egg. Hang in there, we're getting closer to spring by the day...

Each egg that I know for positive which pullet it came from is marked with mother and father on it. If you need help making out my writing just send me a PM and I will help you out. I marked them so we will know who is who as they grow if you are going to band them or whatever. But Bill's kiddos will be easy to pick out of the crowd as they mature......they are waaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger than Gnarles kids from the get go. You'll see what I am talking about as they grow. Oh and keep some room for later so I can get you some of Bill's dtr's eggs crossed with Gnarles. So wished I could have sent some of those to you.....they lay darker than some of the Davis birds I have here, though they did not start out that way. Just for informational purposes for your records, my bestfriend and I have lots of Bill's dtr's and they do not for some reason start out laying dark eggs. Both my BF and I experienced a couple of months worth of barely acceptable color egg before they darkened up.

But then all of a sudden......pretty-ness x 2 started happening. I've asked a few times if anyone has ever experienced this nice egg color happening so late but no response.

Are you planning to keep just blues from the hatch or are you going to keep a couple of each color?
