lol...Dave, it's not you...'tis the season, I think...cold weather and the holidays have everyone preoccupied. There is not much
going on on any of the threads here lately (except for the fast moving and highly entertaining NY hatch thread).

I don't watch TV, but spend my evenings hopping from here to other sites and forums of some other interests. There is not
much going on anywhere...

Time for me to pop a movie into the DVD drive... or maybe get more than 6 hours sleep for a change

I agree Dave. It's not you..................... It's the time of year for one thing. Busy, busy, busy & not with birds for me. hardly anyone laying & the weather stinks so I don't want to be out there seeing what's happening(nothing) anyway. I had a garden club meeting & took a friend to the doctor, trip to the feed store for Omalene 200 & they were out, wasted trip Finally get back home & feel like the day is almost gone & I still have egg ornaments to work on.....................No Dave...it is NOT you...it's just life!!!! Lol

I'd like to "toot my horn" a little, too. My youngest has applied to Kansas State University and Wichita State. Both have accepted him, but I am pretty sure he is going to choose KSU. He will be going into mechanical engineering.

My oldest son is now a senior at KSU. He has his mechanical engineering with nuclear option (Nuclear engineer.) Just recently he changed his mind about the direction of his career, and has decided he would like to become a radiation oncologist. Both boys are very gifted. In fact, a year or so ago my oldest scored the highest score that had ever been scored on a certain calculus test at KSU. He was very happy and I am SOOOOOOO proud of him.

Great kids and of course I love them so much. The difficult part, Pink, about all this, is that once they go off to college you sure don't get to see them as much as you would like. My very best wishes to you and your daughter.

Thanks Sew and Ivy!

Congrats to you and your boys as well Ivy. It's soooo nice to hear good things about kids. They are the future.

New Hatcher~ Congrats on your lovely girls. I wish I could help you out with them but I know very little about the cuckoos, but I know some great BYC'er will come by and help you out.

HenThymes~ They are adorable, Congrats!

ON~

WoW.....that's quite the idea. Breeding in the rosecomb wouldn't be to hard, but it would certainly take a while to regain egg color and perhaps type, depending on the bird used to intro the rosecomb. They also would not be considered pure, but I do see where you are going with it and why.

Simply cross a rosecombed bird to a Marans and keep the birds that have the best representation of the rosecomb that you get, (this may be tricky because I believe when crossing a rose and a single you may get a combo of both at first or perhaps for a couple of gens. Keep all birds that closely resemble Marans type as well.......then the long wait begins for the egg. Keep the best birds that have the combs that you want and type and the darkest egg, but from there I wouldn't know how or which bird to breed them back to....because in my mind breeding them back to a Marans with a single comb would only increase single combs in the next gen. but would help increase egg color. Lots and lots of culling would be required as you know. WoW.....what a project.

Hoping more will come by and give you their opinions........
