ABSOLUTELY, any time you make a purchase - - - quarantine is a good thing.

DITTO - I do a MINIMUM of 3 weeks, 4 if possible. I'm glad they all made it okay! They'll look so much better after a few good rest days!!!

OK will do. DH will not be thrilled as they are in his shop, but it's all for the best!

Yuppers - I'm sure they're just fine, but tell you what - read some of the NUMEROUS threads on here by folks who've not quarantined, then had to put down entire flocks later. It's the saddest thing. Purple Chicken even did a YouTube video with a plea to folks to ALWAYS quarantine after he had to put down a ton of chickens due to an illness brought in by an adult chicken he purchased. So, so sad. It's just not worth the chance.

I am planning at least a 4 wk quarantine for some chickens I am adopting from a rescue this weekend. It is better to be safe than sorry. I know these chickens come from a good place but I always quarantine anyways.

Keara congrats on your new birds. They look nice.

Congrats on everyone's kids who got into college. Its so great to watch your kids achieve thier dreams.

Hey guys - thought you might want to critique this black copper - is that too much leg feathering (do ya think)????:

Also thought you might enjoy seeing the eggs my CornishX hens are laying - they're bigger than the peafowl eggs or goose eggs but then again, the hens weigh 20 pounds:

Merry Christmas to all.

I only got one female from the eggs I hatched from Greenfire Farms, but she lays very large, very dark eggs. I love her! All my other marans are now laying and they started with small pullet eggs, but she laid large eggs from the start.

I've heard about those really dark eggs from these GFF hens. I have to admit that it was a big part of the reason I spent the money for them.
