Ahhhhhhh....yes POTATO CANDY!!!!!!!!!! Yummy! Debbi did you ever make the Pinwheel Potato Cookies? How is lockdown going? Rocking.....peeping.......anything?

Jan~ I'm a Norskie and we use potato for tons of things instead of using flour. Potato Candy is just that...a candy made with out flour and poes are substituted instead. There is no taste difference as one would think, just yummy stuff to nibble on. Now when there is Potato Lefse around......clear a path I say....CLEAR A PATH....'cause I'm all over it.

(lefse....a Norwegian potato like tortilla but much thinner than a 'tilla)

My grandmom makes lefse in a big skillet / griddle. We eat it with butter and brown sugar on it . . . .

Pink - - we may just be sister chicks after all. You don't by chance have relatives from Canada or Wisconsin areas ? ? ?

Butter, brown sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon or sometimes Gramma would roll up blood sausage and a fried egg in them....yummy! I have my Gramma lefse grill, once a year my sisters and I get together and make lefse for the whole family.
I have relatives everywhere....I couldn't even begin to name all the places, but mostly they started out in Minne"snow"ta then came out to the West Coast and settled near Seattle.

Hey....how are your girls doing? Any eggs lately?

Morning all

Pink ~ I knew someone on here would know what potato candy is! Cheap to make and SUPER sweet! If you have a medium russet potato and a bag of powdered sugar, you can make it!

No pips or rocking yet, today is day 19, so maybe later on in the day? I sure hope my chicks don't make me wait till day 27!! Supposed to warm into the 40s today, and then there is a possibility for a WHITE Christmas!!

Good morning
I would love a recipe for the potatoe candy. I bet my husband has never heard of or has had such a culinary delight.
Up late for the second night in the row preparing for Christmas and trying to have a very clean organized house

for the New Years (I'm "challenged" in this area).
I also wanted to get everything done so I can enjoy the new arrivals

Sewandgrow, love your rooster, sooo handsome! And your egg tree is beautiful, you are very talented. My son, who is a total magpie wants to do fancy eggs like that.

Brought one of the hens in the house this morning to keep an eye on her. She is weezing a bit (not every breath) and feels thin to me. I have her by her self with sugar water, scrambled eggs with cinnimon and tumeric, and grower feed. She ate the egg right up and is now resting quietly. I think she just needs some time alone to eat with out the other 3 pushing her around. Still no face puffyness so I am optomistic it is just stress.

thanks for asking!

The Wheezing hen who I brought in yesterday is doing better already, less sneezing and no wheezing. She is eating her pellet feed now too! But of course, one of the Greenfire roosters, out in the barn, is now sneezing and has a bit of a runny nose. These are still the only symptoms, thank god! Guess he is coming in the house now too. Nice thing about having them inside is that they are getting used to us, and the dog and cat!

Both my husband and son like the smell of the turmeric and cinnamon eggs. Each time I cook them for the chooks, I am asked "what are you cooking for us, it smells good?"

Also, geebs has been sooo helpful, I would like to thank her in public for all her help and knowledge.

too funny Pinkchick you and I posted at the same time!

I just noticed that too! Funny! I am glad to hear that she is doing better, but now the boy? Sorry to hear that....are you going to treat them just as a precaution or are you just going to ride it out and wait and see if it will blow over now with the concern of the roo popping up?
