When my roo decides to show his dominance in any form . . . He gets some quality snuggle time with me.
I hold him and caress his comb . I invite my children to touch his wattles.
I inspect his bottom end for lices or mites. I rub his feet. In general,
I invade his space sooooo much that when he is released he gets as far
away from me as possible. I do this daily for 5 - 15 minutes.

I carry him around while I feed up too. If he trys to mount his girls as soon as I walk up,
he gets my quality time too.

He has developed into a fine roo with all the respect his mama taught him!

Morning all

Maybe geebs was right, the chickies are scared to come out thinking they are going to be skinned! Nothing here but some rocking this morning. One is a definate "rock star". Everytime I shine the flashlight on it, it starts really rocking and rolling!

Today is day 21, so let's hope they get busy. Was home all day yesterday, could've hatched then, but nooooo. Have to go to town today, so maybe they want privacy?

It's about 20* colder here this morning since yesterday. Fuglee came flying out of the coop like a rodeo bull coming out of the chute! He cocked his head and gave me a stink eye, I pointed the cane at him, he took off after the ladies with much gusto! What a hormone! Then he proceeded to chase all the cockerels around the coop. Never saw him run that fast before! Pip was nowhere to be found, evidently, he knew Fug's mood and wasn't getting into that mess

Peeked in the coop and there he was on the top roost, then jumped down to eat. Not as dumb as he looks.

Thanks CP, may have to try the vinegar/water bottle! Too old and slow, and crippled up in the mornings to be chasing roos to snuggle with!

Got an eggie from my third pullet yesterday. She is an afternoon layer. Seems like their eggs are like fingerprints, they tell me who is laying what. She lays a 4-5 so far, and it is a rough textured shell with speckles, and a dark spot on the pointy end! She's laid two of them like that so far.

Off for more coffee. Then a peek into the bator.

Just some random feather footed banty...but who doesn't love shipped eggies... I think they are a mix of barred and something else... They are for my daughter...

She has a thing for barred rock roosters... (mean little buggers)

Yeh, I love getting shipped eggs! I've got a friend with some India Blue pea fowl, and she is giving me some eggs this spring to hatch! That ought to be different! Been doing some reading on hatching and raising them. Don't know where I'd actually put them!? May just sell the started chicks, they seem to be a lot harder to raise than chickens, but would be interesting to hatch something different, plus they are free local eggs. Raven1 I see you have peafowl??

Debbi.. Peafowl are exciting..Big and rowdy!!! I had 4 of them... and I say HAD... They are really active and loud and they are loud!! Did I mention Loud!! and ROWDY??? Was one of the funnest things I have done though...

Morning, friends! Know what I've love to have & hatch some day? EMUS! Gosh, there was a thread on BYC a few years back of someone who hatched an emu...the chick was the cutest thing EVER!

Man, if I ever hatch an Emu, DH will divorce me!
