Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I got this little guy as a gift! The person giving it said they were told it was a black copper marans.... I already have 2 BCM and this one looks different especially in that there is no copper feathering. It does however have the iridescent green feathering. Is this a Marans at all? And if so do you think its a roo?

So what are the chances of getting a huge Wheaten Maran chick out of a FBCM egg, when the breeder says it's never happened before!?!?!?

Destiny ~ He may be a cross, but it looks like he has yellow feet in the second pic? Marans don't have yellow legs/feet.

Man oh man, you are sure right about how they change! Just 2 weeks ago I was totally disgusted with Pip, (and his new attitude!), but all of a sudden he seems to be coming on. His tail isn't as high as it looks in that pic either, the wind was blowing his skirt!

He was also dodging the mean old Fugs, so was on guard. The little guys, Roy and brothers, are as big as Pip now, and a whole bunch broader! Funny watching them run from the back side, they run like turkeys!

I'm thinkin abt 8 wks it was unclear from the seller and the gift giver..... the spur bumps seem pretty small as well.....and "she" really seems to dote on the small BCM chick that I have. Anything in particular to look for? I do have a roo that is abt 13 wks but his come and waddles always looked red.....
